I was wondering through my own personal Facebook on thoughts I would share to my family and friends. I stumbled upon this one post that I wrote and I wanted to rewrite/repost it on my blog of Fun Little Joys. I posted this back on December 21, 2013. I can not recall why I wrote it, but I think God wanted me to reread my own thoughts as a reminder for myself today.
God has given us the ability to feel emotions. It is what makes us feel alive. However, we must not allow our emotions to control us. Rather, we must submit our emotions to the Lordship of Christ and let the truth of God’s Word be our guide.
Feelings come and go. As Christians, the way we must deal with our feelings is by choosing to believe God’s Word over what we hear, feel, or experience. The only way to know if an emotion is healthy or unhealthy is if it lines up with the Word of God. We must take our thoughts and emotions captive. Emotions will LIE!!! But the truth of God’s Word speaks to those unhealthy issues and areas of life.
It says in Ephesians 6:13-18,
“Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.”
